Kim Phung's full name is Vo Thi Kim Phung, is a Vietnamese female chess player. She is the defending Asian champion after winning the 2017 championship. In addition, Kim Phung also won the Asian Youth Championship (U20) twice in 2010 and 2013, the regional champion 3.3 in 2017.
She grew up from a chess training camp Thua Thien Hue. In 2012, she moved back to Bac Giang and has competed until now. Also in 2012, she became the champion of the Southeast Asian Open youth tournament for the U20 age group with a score of 7/9.
Previously, Kim Phung won the second prize at the Asian Youth Chess Championship for U14 age group in the United Arab Emirates. In 2010, she represented Vietnam to attend the Asian Youth Chess Championship in India. Although only the 11th seed, Kim Phung was crowned champion with a record of 7.5/9 points. Thanks to this championship, Kim Phung was specially awarded the title of female international grandmaster. In 2011, she won the U18 Blitz Championship in the Philippines.
In 2013, Kim Phung continued to win the Asian Championship with 7/9 points in the United Arab Emirates. In addition to the standard content, Kim Phung also won the fast chess content at this tournament.
In 2013, she participated in the women's singles of the chess tournament at the World Student Sports Festival. world in 2013, ranked 19th overall. 2017 a female Grandmaster.
