Who is Composer John Cage?
One of the leading post-World War II composers, music theorists, writers, and artists known for his music, electroacoustic avant-garde, musical uncertainty, preparatory piano, and improper use of the instrument.
His 1952 part "4'33" consisted of musicians sitting quietly for four minutes and thirty-three seconds. With this work, Cage made the point that environmental sounds constitute a musical form.

His mother Lucretia Harvey was a journalist for the Los Angeles Times. His longtime romance with choreographer Merce Cunningham provided him with the opportunity to influence the development of modern dance.
