People's Artist Bach Diep real name Nguyen Thanh Tam, Considered the first female director of Vietnam, People's Artist Bach Diep left a mark in the hearts of viewers with famous works such as Holy Days, Dien Bien Phu, Hoa Ban Do, Legend of the Mother... Her films are highly appreciated by experts for their truthfulness and storytelling. Simple, intimate, full of femininity. It can be said that People's Artist Bach Diep is the pioneer of a new era of women in the film industry in Vietnam. The two films "Holy Day" and "Mother's Legend" - both starring People's Artist Tra Giang - won the Silver Lotus award.

When she was 16 years old, she followed the Viet Minh, participated in the General Uprising and participated in the women's national salvation in Hai Duong, then worked in the Provincial Association and the Inter-regional Standing Committee III. In 1955, she moved to work at Nhan Dan newspaper, was the leader of the Hanoi group, responsible for information about the city. In 1959, Bach Diep attended a film directing class under the guidance of Soviet experts. She graduated in 1963, then returned to work at Vietnam Feature Film Studio. Her first work was the movie Tran Quoc Toan, adapted from cheo, which was later awarded the Silver Lotus award at the second Vietnam Film Festival.
In 1997, Bach Diep was conferred the title of People's Artist. In 2007, she received the State Prize for Literature and Art. She is one of the Vietnamese artists named in the Soviet Encyclopedia of Cinema. In 2008, she was one of 11 contemporary artists honored on the 55th anniversary of the founding of the revolutionary cinema industry in Vietnam.

Bach Diep was born in Hanoi, into a family with a tradition of photography. Successful in her career, but director Bach Diep is a multi-faceted woman in her private life. She experienced her first pure love with a revolutionary cadre, once the "muse" of musician Tu Phac a> and go through two marriages. But perhaps, as she once said, leaving behind the most "torment, suffering, sweetness and bitterness" is the short life lived with the poet Xuan Dieu.
The female director once confided about this marriage that: "The work of the newspaper swept me away every day, the age of 'hash' has collapsed. Mr. Hoang Tung set me up with him Xuan Dieu We married when I was 27 , and he was around 40. Less than half a year, we parted with love and regret... Few people know that I was once the wife of the "king of love poems" in Vietnam - Xuan Dieu. Destiny has brought me so much happiness and suffering, tormenting me all these years. People of a time have passed into the ancient world, only I still keep the same sweet and bitter emotions."
She married a second time to Mr. Nguyen Duc Tuong in 1975. They lived together for 15 years until Mr. Tuong's death. Although the time was short, the female director lived in the fullness of happiness. She once confided that Mr. Tuong was "the man I expected".
