Paul Edward Begala is an American political commentator and political consultant. He is best known as an adviser during President Bill Clinton's presidency on policy, politics and the media. In addition, Begala was a strategist for the 1992 Clinton-Gore campaign and was part of the Carville and Begala political consulting group along with many Clinton co-advisors James Carville. He is the co-host of the political debate shows Equal Time on MSNBC and the debate show Crossfire on CNN. Today, he regularly appears on CNN as a Democratic commentator and is a professor of Public Policy at Georgetown University's affiliated McCourt School of Public Policy and a faculty member of the College of Law. Begala was born to an Irish-American mother named Margaret "Peggy" and a Hungarian-American father, David Begala, an oil equipment salesman. He was raised in Missouri City, Texas and graduated from Dulles High School in Sugar Land, Texas in 1979. He later graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts and a Doctor of Laws. Legal.
