Margaret Ellen "Peggy" Noonan is an American journalist with a weekly column for The Wall Street Journal, and the author of many books on politics, religion, and culture. She was a special assistant to President Ronald Reagan, writing keynote speeches for the President, but she has kept her conservative ideology in her writings since leaving the Reagan administration. She is an honorary doctorate from the University of Miami and nominated for an Emmy Award for her work in the US and has appeared regularly on ABC's This Week and NBC's Meet The Press

Noonan graduated from Rutherford High School in Rutherford, New Jersey, and Fairleigh Dickinson University. After graduating from college, she became the daily commentary editor for CBS News' Anchorman Dan Rather. From 1975 to 1977, she worked as a news writer for WEEI station in Boston. From 1978 to 1979, she was an adjunct professor of journalism at New York University.
In 1984, Noonan became special assistant to President Reagan then, she also worked for Vice President George H. Bush
Noonan was also a consultant on TV series. American picture The West Wing. In mid-August 2004, Noonan took a short unpaid leave of absence from the Wall Street Journal to campaign for George W. Bush's re-election.
Currently, Noonan is an editor of a column for The newspaper. Wall Street Journal and a commentator on several news programs. She is a member of the board of trustees of the Manhattan Institute and one of the founding members of wowOwow. com, along with Liz Smith, Lesley Stahl, Mary Wells Lawrence and Joni Evans.
