Writer Tran Thanh Mai is from Tien Non village, Phu Mau commune, Phu Vang district, Thua Thien - Hue province. He is a writer, journalist, researcher and literary critic in Vietnam. In addition, he was also a founding member of the Vietnam Writers' Association (1957), and was one of the people who had contributed to the establishment of the Vietnam Literature Institute from the very beginning.
After peace was restored, he was one of the curators of People's Education magazine. Next, he returned to the Institute of Vietnamese Literature (Hanoi) in charge of the Vietnamese Ancient and Modern Literature group, and worked there until his death.
He died on February 3, 1965 at Viet Xo Hospital, Hanoi. Currently, the grave of writer Tran Thanh Mai has been reburied in Trung Viet Cemetery, Go Dua, Thu Duc, Ho Chi Minh City.

Young / Before famous

  • As a child, Tran Thanh Mai studied at An Cuu Primary School and Hue Quoc Hoc School.
  • He graduated with Thanh Chung diploma in 1928.
  • Year. 1936, Tran Thanh Mai participated in the role of Hernani in the famous play Hernani by writer Victor Hugo at the headquarters of the Central American House of Representatives (by Mr. thuc-khang/w7">Huynh Thuc Khang as director).   • In 1947, he went to Thanh Hoa to teach French, Vietnamese literature, Biology and Geography at Hoai Van Private High School in Quang Xuong district. (later moved to Hoang Hoa district). In 1948 - 1950, he was the Principal of this school. During that time, he wrote the play Hero Lam Son and accepted the role of Le Lai in the performances in Thanh Hoa.
