Tran Thi Thuy Dung is Miss Vietnam 2008. She won the Miss pageant. The 11th national final was held in August 2008 in Hoi An city - Quang Nam province. Thuy Dung is the first beauty queen from the central region of the country. She is also one of the Miss Vietnam with the most ideal height (1.78 m when crowned and 1.84 m in 2014).

In the family, Thuy Dung is the most artistic among siblings. She studied piano for many years before and after participating in the beauty pageant.
When she was a high school student, Thuy Dung won the title of 1st runner-up at Quang Trung High School when she was in grade 10. Before participating in the Miss Vietnam 2008 pageant, Thuy Dung enrolled in Newton International College and receive admission notice. From the beginning of the second semester of the 12th grade, she quit Quang Trung High School to prepare to study abroad. Although she has not taken the high school graduation exam yet, but the rules of the 2008 Miss Universe contest accept candidates who are still in high school (at least 18 years old), Thuy Dung has decided to register for the contest.
She participated in the 11th Miss Vietnam contest held in Hoi An, Quang Nam, surpassed more than 40 finalists nationwide and was crowned Miss Vietnam at the age of 18.
Immediately after the coronation, the name and image of Miss Vietnam 2008 Tran Thi Thuy Dung appeared on a prestigious website specializing in publishing Globalbeauties beauty contests as a contestant representing Vietnam at the pageant. The Miss World 2008 pageant was held in Johannesburg, South Africa in November 2008.
After graduating from high school, Miss Thuy Dung participated and had many successes in art activities. Thuy Dung also contributed to promoting many important socio-cultural events of the country such as: Vietnam - Italy Cultural Week, Vietnam - Ukrine Culture Week, Opening of Vietnam direct flights South - England, International Fireworks Festival held in Da Nang, Television bridge voting for Ha Long Bay - Quang Ninh , Hue Festival 2012, Ha Long Carnaval Festival 2013...

Miss Vietnam 2008 Tran Thi Thuy Dung, originally from Quang Nam province, grew up in Da Nang city. She is the youngest child in a Catholic family of four siblings. Her hobbies are swimming, reading, singing and journaling. Thuy Dung was commented by relatives and friends in high school as an introverted and sociable girl, she had the habit of taking care of her diary every day. In the diary kept when she was a student, Thuy Dung narrated: "I am a person of few words, living inwardly and thinking quietly.
