Best known for her roles in operas such as Giuseppe Verdi such as Il Trovatore, La forza del destino, and Aida, this Croatian-born soprano had a long career at the Metropolitan Opera, New York. Also a vocalist of sacred music, she was a soloist on Verdi's Requiem and Beethoven's Missa Solemnis.
She was, at one point, romantically involved with future Yugoslav President Josip Broz Tito.

After training in Croatia, Italy and Germany, twenty-one-year-old Milanov sang Leonora's lead soprano in a Slovenian ensemble by Il Trovatore Verdi.
Born Zinka Kunc in Zagreb, Croatia, she later assumed the name of Zinka Milanov and settled in New York City. She was married several times; Her third marriage was to a Yugoslav diplomat named Ljubomir Ilic.
