Who is Vietnam War Hero Ha Huy Tap?
Ha Huy Tap, whose childhood name is Ha Huy Khiem, also known as Ba, is a Vietnamese revolutionary activist. He used to hold the position of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
He was taught to read from a young age by his father. His father was a man who had passed a Bachelor of Confucianism but did not follow the path of mandarin but returned to his hometown to practice teaching and making medicine. Besides studying Confucianism from his father, he attended primary school at a school in the town of Ha Tinh. In 1919, after completing primary school, he took the entrance exam to Quoc Hoc Hue School. In 1923, he graduated from Diplome with honors and was assigned to teach at Primary School Nha Trang now Nguyen Van High School. Troi, until 1926.

Due to the influence of his father, he taught at primary school in Nha Trang, besides teaching, he also taught literacy to workers and poor people. He used his salary to buy books for students with difficult conditions. Ha Huy Tap's activities were approved by many young intellectuals and introduced him to a political organization called Phuc Viet Association, which later changed its name to Tan Viet Cach Mang Party. The criterion of the Tan Viet Revolutionary Party was to overthrow the empire, build an equal and charitable society, clearly opposing the exploiting French colonial government in Vietnam. In mid-1926, he was fired by the colonial government and expelled from Nha Trang. In August of the same year, he applied to teach at Cao Xuan Duc primary school in Vinh. In March 1927, he moved to Saigon, working as a teacher at Nguyen Bich Hong School. He focused on teaching the poor people literacy, and at the same time inspired patriotism and the struggle for independence. Therefore, in January 1928 he was fired from Nguyen Bich Hong school. However, he still maintained the job of teaching and propagandizing the revolution from Bien Hoa, Ba Ria, to Gia Dinh, Saigon.

July 1928, he was assigned the task of keeping in touch. with the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association in order to find a way to unite the anti-French colonial organizations into a common organization. In December of the same year, he was sent to Guangzhou - China to attend a training course organized by the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association. He was sent to the Soviet Union to study at the Communist International's Eastern Communist Labor University in Moscow under the alias of Sinisterkin. At the end of this year, he was admitted as a member of the all-federal Communist Party (Bolshevik).

In April 1934, he graduated from the course and returned home. On the way, he was captured by the French colonialists and deported to Belgium, but then returned to China, was sent by the Communist International to join the Communist Party's Overseas Command Committee. At the First Party Congress in Macau, Le Hong Phong was appointed General Secretary, and Ha Huy Tap was elected to the Central Committee, holding the throne. He was the director of the newspapers L'Avant garde (Pioneer) in 1937, People in 1938 of the Party under the name of "The Labor and People's Agency" in Cochinchina.

At the 3rd Conference of the Party Central Committee in Ba Diem, he resigned as General Secretary, but remained active in the Standing Committee of the Party Central Committee. On May 1, 1938, he was arrested for giving tips while attending International Labor Day in Saigon. He was expelled from Cochinchina and sent back to his hometown to be placed under house arrest. On March 30, 1940, he was arrested and brought to Cochinchina for trial. On October 25 of the same year, the French colonialists sentenced him to 5 years in prison. On March 25, 1941, the French colonialists changed his sentence to death because he was a spiritual activist in the Cochinchina uprising. He and other revolutionary activists like Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Nguyen Van Cu, Vo Van Tan were both sentenced to death.
