He died on October 31, 2008 at his home.
Poet Tran Nhat Thu once received the Medal for fighting against the US to save the country, the Badge for the cause of Vietnam's journalism, the third prize in the weekly poetry contest of Van Nghe - Vietnam Writers Association.
