Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan is a Vietnamese politician. She is currently a member of the 12th Politburo, and the Chairwoman of the 13th National Assembly of Vietnam. She is the first female politician to hold the position of Chairwoman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and Chairwoman of the National Election Council in Vietnam's history. She is considered the most influential female politician in Vietnamese politics today. According to many people's comments, she is a close, simple person, a high-ranking female politician possessing a sharp beauty imbued with the benevolence of the Vietnamese people. In early 2016, Forbes magazine voted her as the most influential woman in Vietnam in the list of 20 women while holding the position of Vice Chairwoman of the XIII National Assembly.

Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan holds a Master of Economics, majoring in finance and credit, and a Bachelor of Politics. She was admitted to the Communist Party of Vietnam on December 9, 1981 and became a full member a year later. She used to hold the positions of Deputy Director, Director of the Department of Finance Ben Tre Province Deputy Minister of Finance, Secretary Provincial Party Committee Hai Duong Province. In 2006, she was Secretary of the Party Affairs Committee, Standing Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Trade. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan is a member of the Central Committee of the Party, term IX (2001-2006), term X (2006-2010). She was the Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (2007-2011).
At the 11th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, he was re-elected to the Party Central Committee, elected to the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee by the Central Committee.
On July 23, 2011 she was nominated by the President of the National Assembly as Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly.
In May 2013 at the 7th Conference of the XI term, she was additionally elected to the Politburo.
In January 2016 at the 14th Conference, the 11th Party Central Committee, was nominated to be the President of the National Assembly for the 2016-2021 term
