In 1247, Le Van Huu passed the Ban Nhan exam. At that time he was only 17 years old, he was held the position of Academician of the Academy, concurrently the director of national history. At the end of his life, he was promoted to Thuong Thu of the infantry, and the title of Nhan Uyen Mar. He is also the teacher of Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quang Khai.
He is the seven-generation grandson of Le Luong, a patriarch in the land Ai Chau, the reign of the king Dinh Tien Hoang, His father is Le Van Minh, his mother is Do Thi Hoa, when he was young, he studied with a teacher surnamed Nguyen in the famous child prodigy Phuc Trien village. Le Van Huu lived for almost a full century, directly participating in the first resistance against the Mongols in 1258 and the second in 1285.
