Shane West, born Shannon Bruce Snaith, is an American actor and musician. West is known for his roles in BBC television series such as Eli Sammler in the family drama Once and Again, as Landon Carter in A Walk to Remember and as Darby Crash in What We Do Is Secret. Or the role of Dr. Ray Barnett on "ER" on NBC and as Michael Bishop on "Nikita" on The CW. Westt is also musically active with pumk rock band Germs and Johnny Was.
Shane West stars as Landon Carter in a film adaptation of Nicholas Sparks. The film was shown in theaters in the United States in 2002. However, it only grossed $41 million.

West is the son of attorney Leah Catherine and a drugstore owner named Don Snaith. His parents were both musicians and were in punk bands. His mother is a native of Cajun French, his father was born in Jamaica. He is the eldest in a family of three children, his sisters are Simone and Marli Ann.
In 1982, his parents divorced, when he was only 4 years old. At the age of 10, West and Simone moved in with their mother in Compton, California. They later moved to Norwalk, California.
