He emigrated to America in 1920 after studying in Zurich of the École polytechnique Federale de Zurich, from which he graduated in 1919. He was first employed by Hubbell & Benes Cleveland, then established the practice of himself in 1923 in New York City.
He married Mary Connick Hughes in 1933.
