Pham Chi Nhu's entrepreneurial journey and the birth of Coolmate
In March 2019, Pham Chi Nhu and two partners Nguyen Van Hiep and Nguyen Hoai Xuan Lan founded the fashion brand Coolmate.
From the early days, Pham Chi Nhu and the founding team chose the D2C (Direct-to-Consumer) business model - selling products directly to customers through online platforms. This model helps Coolmate cut down on traditional retail intermediaries, while optimizing costs and improving user experience.
Coolmate's initial strategy focused on basic men's fashion products that are easy to use in daily life. Key products include: Men's T-shirts, men's underwear, socks, daily wear.
CEO Pham Chi Nhu said that focusing on essential products helps Coolmate easily control quality, optimize operating processes and build trust with customers right from the early stages.
After only a few years of operation, Coolmate quickly attracted the attention of the startup community in Vietnam. The big turning point was when CEO Pham Chi Nhu joined Shark Tank Vietnam, successfully calling for an investment of 500,000 USD. Media effects and new capital help Coolmate accelerate. In 2021, revenue will reach 140 billion VND, 3.5 times higher than the previous year.
After that, Coolmate expanded its production capacity, cooperating with many factories in the North and City. HCM, at the same time implementing a "green production" strategy with organic cotton and recycling PET plastic into fibers.
In 2022, Coolmate completed a $1.1 million Pre-Series A round led by STIC Ventures; followed by a $2 million Series A round (led by Access Ventures, with participation from Do Ventures, CyberAgent, DSG).
