Pho Duc Phuong is a veteran musician of Vietnamese music. Nearly half a century of writing music, up to now, musician Pho Duc Phuong has many famous songs that go into the hearts of the music-loving public. The songs that are rich in folklore, fiction and reality in Pho Duc Phuong's compositions especially impress listeners. Pho Duc Phuong used to work at the Department of Performing Arts, Ministry of Culture and Information, and was a member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Musicians Association, term III (from 1983-1989) and class VII (from 2005-2010). Currently, Pho Duc Phuong is the Director of the Center for Protection of Music Copyright, Vice President of the Hanoi Music Association.
In 2001, Pho Duc Phuong was awarded the State Prize for Literature - Art art.
On December 29, 2016, musician Pho Duc Phuong held the first live show to celebrate 50 years of profession. The program was held at the Hanoi National Convention Center. He spent nearly 5 billion VND for the live show "On top of Phu Van". The music night consists of 20 songs divided into 3 parts: In the beginning, the call of the four directions, back to the self.

In 1962, Pho Duc Phuong studied at the Department of Mathematics, Hanoi National University of Education. Coming up to the graduation project, he quit school because of economic difficulties. He volunteered to work as a livestock farmer at Cuu Long Farm in Hoa Binh.
In 1966, Pho Duc Phuong entered the Vietnam Music School. After graduating, he joined the Thai Binh Music and Dance Group, followed by the Music and Dance Department, and then the Hanoi Music and Dance Group.
