Who is Vietnam War Hero Mai Van Anh?
Mai Van Anh is a hero of the Vietnam War and a member of the Communist Party of Vietnam. He used to hold the position of company captain of engineer company, local army in Ben Tre province.
From 1964 to 1975, he fought in many places in the province Ben Tre. He and his teammates participated in 50 battles, leading the unit to kill and injure nearly 1,000 enemies, destroying many means of struggle. He alone killed 189 enemies, captured 7 alive, shot down 6 military vehicles, 1 cannon, and seized 27 guns of all kinds. On the night of October 27, 1970, in a battle against the enemy's light regiment command headquarters in Ben Thanh, the enemy army consisted of 2 battalions and 2 companies, he led a platoon secretly followed the river route to attack the enemy. the enemy's headquarters, killed and wounded 70 people, among them were 1 lieutenant colonel, 1 major. He alone killed 8 guys including 2 officers.
On March 1, 1971, during the enemy battle at An Phuoc in Chau Thanh district, the enemy troops fired fiercely to block our way of attack. He did not hesitate to use B40, grenades to kill 12 enemies, seize 9 guns of all kinds, make a great contribution with his teammates in the unit to destroy 1 enemy platoon and liberate 2 hamlets.
On the night of March 22, 1972, he led his unit to attack Truc Giang branch. The enemy troops here had more than 100 soldiers stationed in a strong place, they fought back fiercely, he calmly watched and commanded the soldiers to fight each and every enemy point. He alone destroyed 2 points of fire, destroyed 3 military vehicles, greatly contributed to the victory of our army.
Mai Van Anh was awarded by the State 2 Orders of Third-Class Liberation Victory, 1 Order First-class liberation victory, many times recognized as brave warriors and emulation fighters, awarded 8 certificates of merit and certificates of merit of all kinds.
On November 6, 1978, Mai Van Anh was recognized by the Party and State. conferred the title Hero of the People's Armed Forces.
