The content of the film is the story of a girl named Ma Thi Di who is chosen to be his wife by a young boy, around the same age, as Vang. Di tried to resist arranged marriages according to the traditional culture of his people. Di's mother is conflicted between protecting her child's happiness or respecting custom. Meanwhile, Di's father and grandmother both agreed to let Di make the decision. The documentary film "Children in the Mist" has participated in many film festivals large and small such as the International Film Festival on Education (Festival du film d'éducation, France), Cork International Film Festival (Ireland), IDFA (Netherlands)... and was shown in cinemas in the US and France. At the same time, the film was also included in the Shortlist of 15 Outstanding Documentary Films at the 95th Oscar Awards.
