In 1998, Professor-People's Artist Bui Gia Tuong was awarded the first-class Labor Medal. In October 2007, he was awarded the 40-year Party membership badge by the State.

At the age of 11, Bui Gia Tuong returned to Ninh Binh to live. When he was a child, he loved to sing and also had a beautiful voice, so the young people let him live in the propaganda volunteer group of Ninh Binh. Then, thanks to his acquaintance, he was introduced by a brother to the Doan Van Cong of the 308th Division to sing for the army.
In 1957, he was transferred to the Ministry of Culture and studied music.
In 1960, Bui Gia Tuong became the first student of celle violin to study at the Tchaikovsky Academy of Music. Standing in front of one of the most magnificent music lecture halls in the world, Bui Gia Tuong is somewhat self-deprecating and afraid. But with his best efforts, he graduated with excellence from the Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Music.
