Best known for her still life paintings, this realist artist exhibits her work at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and many other prestigious galleries. She received three MacDowell Fellowships and Academy of Fine Arts and Letters awards, among other honors.
At various points in her career, she taught in the visual arts agencies of the University of Chicago, the New York School of Visual Arts, Syracuse University, and Parsons The New School for Design.

The younger sister of a photographer and niece of an American impressionist artist, Fish spent her childhood in Massachusetts and Bermuda and later lived and worked in New York and Vermont. Her two marriages ended in divorce.
