He met his musical partner Patrick Gemayel in high school, at Stanislas College in Montreal. When he was 15 years old, Gemayel invited him to join his band. They released their first album She's In Control in 2004, while both worked in jobs related to the music industry. Their fourth album White Women was released in September 2013, thereby praising "Jealousy (I'm not with it)."
He was born and raised in Montreal. He is Jewish and considering Gemayel's Arab heritage, the two joked that they must be "only successful Arab/Jewish writers since the dawn of human culture."
