Best known for his role as interest hungry boss Michael Scott on the NBC series The Office, he first became known to television audiences as a reporter on The Daily Show from 1999 to 2005. He had his big screen breakthrough in the 2005 film 40-Year-Old Virgin and also had memorable supporting roles in Bruce Almighty, Little Miss Sunshine and Anchorman.
He provided his voice for the GRU in the Despicable Me films and for the mayor in the 2008 Disney feature Horton Hears a Who! played the role of John du Pont in the 2014 Foxcatcher film, for which he earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor.
