Leah Remini, full name Leah Marie Remini, is an actress, producer, and activist against Scientology. She rose to fame from her role as Carrie Heffernan in the comedy series "The King of Queens" (1998-2007), and her role as Lara in the film "Old School". She was co-manager of The Talk from 2010-2011.
Leah Remini is the daughter of a woman of Austrian Jewish descent, and her father's surname is Sicilian. At the age of 9, Leah Remini's mother joined the Church of Scientology, so she also trained as a Scientologist. At the age of 13, Leah Remini moved to Los Angeles, California to live with her mother.
Remini's first television role was as Charlie Briscoe in "Who's the Boss?". In 1991, she took on a supporting role in a short comedy called "The Man in the Family". She then landed a recurring role in " Saved by the Bell", as Stacey Carosi, or as Daisy in "Evening Shade". She then appeared in two other short series, "First Time Out" and "Fired Up". In 1993, the actress appeared in "Cheers" as Cheers, daughter of Carla and Nick Tortelli (played by Rhea Perlman and Dan Hedaya). In 1998, Remini rose to fame with the CBS sitcom "The King of Queens", which was a huge hit and ran for nine seasons.
