Who is VĐV bi-da Chiem Hong Thai?
Chiem Hong Thai is a young talent of the Vietnamese Billiards village, a Vietnam player is the only person to win a ticket to the main round of the 3-cushion Carom Billiards World Cup Seoul tournament taking place in Korea. He and two players received the seed spot, Bao Phuong Vinh and Tran Quyet Chien.
In recent times, the tournament conducted the fourth qualifying round, the final qualifying round, with the participation of 16 players who passed the third qualifying round and 20 players who were seeded. 36 players are divided into 12 groups, each group has 3 players, playing in a round robin. After that, the top 12 players and 3 second-place players with the best results will be selected to advance to the final round. Vietnam has participated with three players: Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu, Dao Van Ly got tickets from the 3rd qualifying round and currently Chiem Hong Thai is ranked 21st in the world as a direct seed. If player Dao Van Ly lost in both matches against Jorissen (Netherlands) 24-40 and Marechal (France) 32-40 and finished at the bottom of Group J and was eliminated, it would be a bit regretful for Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu to leave the tournament. Starting first in Group K, Thanh Tu defeated Hwang Bong Joo (Korea) 40-35 while Ceulemans (Belgium) only drew with Hwang Bong Joo 40-40. In the final match, Thanh Tu only needed to draw with Ceulemans to win a ticket to the next round. In the 22nd round, Thanh Tu led 37/36 but missed an unfortunate opportunity to allow Ceulemans to make a comeback, making a series of 4 points to win the final 40-37.
In At that time, young talent Chiem Hong Thai continued to overcome the narrow window to excellently win the Group I ticket to the final round. While Egyptian player Riad Nady defeated Turkish player Orak 40-33, Champa Hong Thai only drew with Orak 40-40. Therefore, in the decisive match, Champa Hong Thai was forced to win against Riad Nady, while the Egyptian player only needed a draw to take the top spot. At the beginning of the match, Riad Nady was always the leader and created a gap with a score of 23/16 going into the halftime break. However, after only 5 minutes of rest, the situation of the match was completely reversed when Chiem Hong Thai played very sublimely. He continuously launched series, including two 7-point series and 3 3-point series. From a disadvantage, player Chiem Hong Thai overcame his opponent to win the final match with a score of 40-30. With 1 win and 1 draw, Chiem Hong Thai won the only ticket from Group I to the final round.
