Who is Vietnam War Hero Nguyen Van Thuyen?
Nguyen Van Thuyen is a hero of the Vietnam War and a member of the Communist Party of Vietnam. He used to be the company captain of 3rd Infantry Company, 179th Battalion, Division 9906, 979 Front in Military Region 9.
January 1979, he was elected company captain. He and his teammates fought in the Takeo province area of Cambodia. During the struggle, he led flexibly, successfully completed all assigned tasks, alone he killed 11 enemies, captured 4 alive, and seized 19 guns of all kinds.
On August 7, 1979, he led the soldiers of his unit to attack Ta Ri mountain. The enemy soldiers stood on high throwing grenades and cannons to block our advancing formation. He calmly and quickly struck the enemy's flanks and backs, causing them to panic, and his unit quickly mastered the battlefield. That very night, the enemy used large forces to attack our unit, he led his comrades to repel many times of the enemy's attack, always maintaining the battlefield.
On March 11, 1979, his unit was assigned the task of sweeping away the remnants of the enemy in the southwest of Tuong Lang mountain. The enemy troops here took advantage of the high altitude, fiercely returned fire at our troops. He led the unit to fight the enemy in front, defuse the bombs and he cleverly ordered a secret division to suddenly attack the enemy's flank, seizing many weapons and 5 tons of ammunition, escaping more than 1 . 000 people.
On March 31, 1979, he led his unit to fight continuously all day at the K-crossroads and was able to repel 10 attacks of the enemy with support vehicles. right after that, he was also injured, because the wound was too severe, he sacrificed himself heroically.
Nguyễn Văn Thúy was awarded the First Class Victory Medal by the State, 3 certificates of merit of all kinds.
On January 25, 1983, Nguyen Van Thuyen was posthumously awarded the title Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the Party and State.
