Cao Bat Quat is a famous national monk and poet in Vietnamese history.
Cao Ba Quat was born into a family with a tradition of practicing medicine, his grandfather is Cao Huy Thiem, his father is Cao Huy Sam, both are famous doctors in the region. His twin brother, Cao Bá Dat, was a literary genius. When he was a child, his family was not well off, but he was always famous for being intelligent and good at studying.
In 1831, he took an exam at the Hanoi exam school and passed A Nguyen, at that time he was 22 years old. . But he took the exam a few more times but did not pass, from then on he stopped taking the exam and went on a trip to travel everywhere.
In 1841, he was honored Bac Ninh province recommended to the court, he was invited to enter the capital to hold the position of Hajj. After that, Cao Ba Quat was assigned the task of judging the incense contest in Thua Thien, he and his friend Phan Nha corrected some good essays but broke the rules, to save talented people. When it was discovered, he was imprisoned, and tortured brutally. Later, when he was sentenced to death, he was transferred by King Thieu Tri from being sentenced to death to being held in prison awaiting orders. After nearly 3 years of imprisonment, he was released by the court but was transferred to Da Nang.
When the Dao mission Tri Phu went to Singapore to work, Cao Ba Quat was spared to follow the merits of atonement. When he returned from work, he was reinstated and promoted to chief.
In 1854, because he was unpopular with the court officials, he was sent to Son Tay to work as a teacher in Quoc Oai. He was bored from the mandarin and became a military advisor for Le Duy Cu against the Imperial Court. He and Le Duy Cu set up an uprising in My Luong but failed, he was arrested and executed with his children Cao Ba Phung and Cao Ba Phong at that time he was 45 years old.
Cao Ba Quat left behind him. for the life of the book Master God only book. And left behind many famous ca tru songs such as the song Phu Tai Tu Da along.
