Writer Dinh Kinh had many years of service in the navy, so he traveled a lot and had many experiences about the daily life of marine soldiers, especially during the fierce war years. During this period, most of the unnumbered ships on the Ho Chi Minh Road at sea departed from the port city of Hai Phong (Yelk wharf, also known as K15 wharf in Do Son) to carry reinforcements from the North to the South. Therefore, he is also a living witness of many events that took place in this historical period.
