Writer Bui Hien was born in a coastal village named Phu Nghia Ha, now Tien Thuy commune, Quynh Luu district. a>. Raised in a well-to-do family, he was soon exposed to French culture and was heavily influenced by the Tu Luc Van Doan group.
He was a founding member, participated in three Executive Committee courses, used to be a member of the Executive Committee. as Standing member, Standing member and chairman of the Prose Council of Vietnam Writers Association.
He passed away on March 11, 2008, at the age of 91.

- In his youth, he attended Vinh Quoc Hoc School (now Huynh Thuc Khang a>).
- After graduating from high school, he worked as a civil servant and in his spare time in the evening began to write. At the beginning of his literary career, he published short stories in the magazine Hanoi Tan Van by Vu Ngoc Phan such as: Lying in bed (1940), Making beans (1940), Afternoon dew (1/3// 1941), Poison (April 24, 1941)...
- In 1944, he joined the revolution. During the period 1945 - 1960, he participated in cultural activities, held the position of chairman of Nghe An Provincial Arts Association, but composed little, part of his time was devoted to translation work.
- In 1956, he introduced a collection of short stories, translated by Anton Antonov.
- In 1957, he joined the Writers Union and held the position of Executive Committee member of the Vietnam Writers Association for courses I (1958-1961), II (1962-1972), III ( 1973-1982).
- In 1975, he was the leader of the Writers Union's delegation that followed the North Vietnamese army into Hue and Da Nang.
- After 1975, he continued to work in the Vietnam Writers Association and held the position of Chairman of the Prose Council of the Vietnam Writers Association, term IV.
