- When she was 10 years old, her father passed away, her mother walked away, Nguyen Thi had to endure hardship and sorrow since childhood.
- In 1943, he was brought to Saigon by a brother.
- At the age of 17, he joined the Revolution; at this time he was writing poetry and writing under the pen name Nguyen Ngoc Tan; he was a member of the Suicide Squad during the days of the general uprising in Saigon;
- Then, in 1947, he was admitted to the Party.
- In 1953, Nguyen Ngoc Tan got married.
- In 1954, he gathered to the North and worked at the Military Arts Magazine. During this time, he wrote short stories under the pen name Nguyen Ngoc Tan.
- May 1962, Nguyen Ngoc Tan volunteered to go to the South, changing his pen name to Nguyen Thi (name of his son, with his second wife, in the North). He is an active member of the Armed Forces of the Liberation Army.
- May 1968, he followed an artillery unit to participate in the second general offensive of Mau Than and died heroically on the battlefield on May 9, 1968 (at street Minh Phung, District 11 - Saigon).
