Mercedes-Benz is made up of two completely independent branches. Karl Benz founded Benz & Co. Rheinische Gasmotorenfabrik Mannheim - Gas engine factory Rhein Mannheim Benz & Co in 1883. In 1890, Wilhelm Maybach and Gottlieb Daimler together founded Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft - DMG - Daimler Engine Company. Two years later, the company launched the first model with an engine named Phoenix, built by the two men themselves. This model later attracted the attention of Austrian businessman and diplomat Emil Jellinek. In 1900, Daimler died, Jellinek invested a large amount of money in the "Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft" with the condition that Maybach would have to design a new car model containing the details that Jellinek requested, and the car model. This will be named after his newborn daughter Mercédès - which in Spanish means "gift" or "loving". The first cars under the Daimler-Mercedes brand were sold in 1901 by Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft. The success of this model was really beyond imagination, on June 23, 1902, DMG decided to use the Mercedes name as a trademark of the automaker and officially registered the trademark on June 23, 1902. 26.
Both companies have experienced many ups and downs along the way. Benz was constantly involved in factory affairs in 1903. In 1907, Maybach left DMG. Two years later, Jellinek also stopped working with DMG. After Germany's defeat in World War I, the business of both firms fell into crisis. In order to revive the business, two companies "Daimler Motorengesellschaft" (Daimler Engine Company) and "Benz & Co. Rheinische Gasmotorenfabrik Mannheim" merged into one and named Daimler-Benz AG (Daimler Joint Stock Company) -Benz). The new car brand is the combination of two famous car manufacturers.
