He and three other musicians were organized by the Vietnam Musicians Association to attend a composition camp in the (former) Soviet Union. Because he was subjective, he brought a few clothes, not enough to keep him warm, so after a week he coughed up blood. The medical condition is critical. He was sent to the hospital by his fellow crew members and Russian colleagues. While in the hospital, because he was so bored, Nguyen Dinh Bang brought out the book "99 love poems" to read. When reading the poem "The Time of Red Flowers" by poet Thanh Tung, Nguyen Dinh Bang felt his heart filled with emotions and the enthusiasm of his youth. That's why he wrote the song "Time of Red Flowers".

Nguyen Dinh Bang graduated from the music composition department of Hanoi Conservatory of Music. After that, he worked for Music and Record Publishing House.
