Currently, musician Truong Hoang Xuan lives alone in a small house on Tran Huy Lieu , Phu Nhuan district, Ho Chi Minh City. He suffered from some liver diseases, bronchitis, allergic rhinitis. The doctor advised him to be hospitalized. But because he was insecure about the safety of his spiritual possessions in the house, he chose to take medicine and treat it at home.

At the age of 16, he started playing music at restaurants to earn money for his mother and two younger sisters. In 1960, he graduated from Pedagogy and returned to teach in Long Khanh, Binh Tuy province. In 1968, he joined the army and was assigned to Army Radio to work with Do Kim Bang, Tram Tu Thieng...
Year 1972, he teaches music at the General High School Nguyen An Ninh, District 10. In 1978, he quit his job as a teacher and applied for a job in the Postal Service until he retired.

At the age of 20, he got married. He and his wife had six children. Married life did not go smoothly when he and his wife disagreed, especially about raising children. Therefore, this marriage only lasted until 2000, when it was officially broken. After the divorce, musician Truong Hoang Xuan ceded a spacious house to his wife and children, and he used the money he had saved to buy a small house and move out on his own.
