The song "Exam season" was written by the author when he was less than 20 years old. When composing, Do Kim Bang only thought of putting his thoughts into the lyrics, but did not intend to make them widely available to the public. But in 1952, during the award ceremony of Khai Dinh School, he performed this song and immediately attracted the attention of the director of Tinh Hoa publishing house. Not long after that, his work was performed by the Thang Long choir in Saigon in the music scene "Mua Thi" consisting of 3 songs Student Hanh Khuc, Summer Come and Thi Season. In 1954, he immigrated to the South to continue studying at the College of Education. After graduating in 1955, he was appointed by the Ministry of Defense to be in charge of the culture of the National Martial Arts School of Da Lat until 1960.
In 1960, he enlisted in the 21st class of the Thu Duc Infantry School. After completing the course with the rank of Warrant Officer, he was assigned to the art department of the Department of Psychological War, serving from 1965-1969.
In 1969, he was seconded by the Ministry of Education to Tran Luc School to teach until April 1975. After the incident of April 30, 1975, he was sent to study and re-educate for four years in Long Giao.
