Who is Illustrator Akira Toriyama?
He served as character designer for the "Dragon Quest" video game series.
On March 1, 2024, Toriyama died of acute subdural hematoma, at the age of 68. His funeral was held with only family and close friends. One week later, on March 8, his death was announced by Bird Studio.
Manga and game artist best known for the manga series "Dr. Slump" from 1980 to 1984 and "Dragon Ball" from 1984 to 1995. His work on "Dr. Slump" " earned him the Shogakukan Manga Award in 1981. He served as character designer for the "Dragon Quest" video game series.
He won an amateur manga competitor sponsored by Jump magazine and went on to publish his first professional job in 1978. He designed posters for a Nagoya advertising agency for three years. .
He and his wife, Nachi Mikami, have two children.
