Previously, there were many suspicions about the "massacre of many Hue people on Tet holiday in 1968" related to musician Hoang Phu Ngoc Tuong, with his younger brothers, Hoang Phu Ngoc Phan and Nguyen Dac Xuan. However, researcher Nguyen Dac Xuan confirmed that during the campaign, Hoang Phu Ngoc Tuong was in the war zone at Khe Trai tunnel in the western mountains of Huong Tra district to do the work of the Liberation Front. Therefore, the story that Hoang Phu Ngoc Tuong participated in the massacre is a fabrication.
