Writer Tran Dang real name is Dang Tran Thi, born in Dam village, Tay Tuu commune, Tu Liem district, Hoai Duc district, Ha Dong province, now Tu Liem district, Hanoi City.

- As a child, he followed his father to Hanoi and studied at Van Lan private schools and Thang Long High School, and at the same time worked as an assistant at the University library Indochina.
- The resistance war against the French in 1946, Tran Dang joined the resistance and worked at the Office of the Ministry of Interior, The Vietnam-France Joint Inspection Committee under the General Command of the Vietnam People's Army.
- In 1948, he returned to work as a front reporter for the newspaper Ve Quoc Quan (now the People's Army newspaper). Tran Dang directly participated in many major campaigns: Northeast (1948), Road No. 4 (1949)... He also went on field trips to areas controlled by the French army as far as Son Tay, Mong Cai.
- Tran Dang died on December 26, 1949 on the way from Na Lan village (Van Lang, Lang Son a>) went to Aikou (Guangxi, China) on a mission to communicate with the Chinese Liberation Army to discuss a plan to coordinate the fight against the French and become "the first artist and soldier to shed blood on the battlefield" , in the words of the press published in the war zone at that time.
