Who is Painter Ta Ty?
Ta Ty is a painter and a poet. He is considered a multi-talented artist. When he first started painting, he often composed mainly on lacquer material. But then he gained attention with many works in the style of cubism. Then he turned to abstract style again.

In 1941, while still a student, he was famous for winning a painting prize. In 1943, he graduated from Fine Arts College Indochina. In the same year he won the Salon Unique award for his painting "Summer". During the years of the war against the French, he taught fine arts at Lien Khu 3, at the same time, the shape of the work "Remembering Hanoi" was 20 × 25 cm in size. In the 1950s, Ta Ty both painted and composed works of stories, poems, scripts, and pen autographs... In 1951, he held an exhibition in Hanoi with 60 paintings. Including the oil painting "Loneliness" (size 67 x 54.5 cm), this is a painting that was auctioned by Sotheby's house and sold for 19,550 Singapore dollars in April 2000. In 1956, held the first exhibition in Saigon with more than 60 paintings. In 1960, Ta Ty painted about 50 portraits of South Vietnamese cultural figures. These are paintings with a special style, showing a very unique personal style. In 1961, his second exhibition consisted of 60 cubist and abstract paintings. The painting "Portrait of Vi Huyen Dac" is a typical picture of Ta Ty's portrait.

After 1975, he and his family immigrated to the United States. Here he continued to compose. In 2003, after his wife passed away, he decided to return to Vietnam to live the last days of his life. After returning to Vietnam, he painted "Red Summer " (size 350 x 170 cm). Currently, this painting hangs at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts, which is also the largest oil painting in this museum's collection.

August 24, 2004, painter Ta Ty at his house on the street Phan Van Tri, District 5, City Ho Chi Minh, aged 83.
