Who is Poet Hoang Cam?
Hoang Cam's real name is Bui Tang Viet, he also has a number of other pseudonyms such as Bang Viet, Le Thai, Le Ky Anh, Bang Phi. His name is a combination of his hometown: Phuc Tang and Viet Yen. He is a Vietnamese poet and screenwriter.
He used to participate in the Viet Minh's Youth National Salvation activity. When the August Revolution broke out, he returned to Hanoi and founded the Dong Phuong troupe.
In April 1957, poet Hoang Cam joined the establishment of the Vietnam Writers' Association, and was elected to the Executive Committee. In 1958, Hoang Cam had to withdraw from the Association of Writers due to the case "Humanism Giai Phong". In 1970 he retired early.
Poet Hoang Cam died on May 6, 2010 due to a serious illness.
He is the author of the famous poetic play Han Nam Quan, Kieu Loan and poems. Collot leaves, Across the Duong River. In particular, the poem Across the Duong River was selected to be taught in the high school curriculum.
In early 2007, he was awarded the State Prize for Literature and Art by the State of Vietnam, signed by the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Young / Before famous

Poet Hoang Cam attended primary and secondary school in Bac Giang and Bac Ninh. In 1938, he went to Hanoi to study at Thang Long School. In 1940, he passed the full baccalaureate and entered the literary profession, translating books for the New People of the Commune Vu Dinh Long . Since then, he took the pseudonym Hoang Cam.
In 1944, poet Hoang Cam brought his family back to his hometown in Thuan Thanh to live. Here, he began participating in the Viet Minh's Youth for National Salvation activities. When the August Revolution broke out, poet Hoang Cam founded the Dong Phuong troupe in Hanoi. When the War broke out, the troupe had to return to Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Son Tay, and Thai Binh regions to tour. for a while then disbanded.
In August 1947, he joined the National Guard, operating in the 12th war zone. At the end of this year, he established the Propaganda and Culture Team, the first army literary team.
In 1952, he was appointed as the head of the literary troupe of the General Department of Politics, performing activities for the army and people in free zones and serving in campaigns.
In the beginning of 1955, musician Hoang Cam was assigned the task of leading the theater troupe. At the end of 1955, he returned to work as a publisher at the Vietnam Culture and Arts Association.

Family life info

He married his first wife, Hoan, and she gave birth to three children. At that time, his family life was difficult and lacked, his wife often hid it so that the children could bear the cold, eat hungry, and save a piece of rice for grandparents. Then she died exhausted. The youngest daughter at the age of four also died from hunger and cold, so she also died.
His second wife, Mrs. Tuyet Khanh, who plays the role of "Kieu Loan", they share a daughter.
And Mrs. Le Hoang Yen, the last person to live with the poet, is the person who has lived with him the longest. But she passed away 20 years ago…
