Who is Teacher BKS Iyengar?
Considered one of the world's greatest teachers of yoga, this creator of Iyengar Yoga has written numerous books outlining his philosophy and practice. He was a 2014 recipient of the prestigious Padma Vibhushan.
A philanthropist as well as a practitioner, he donates millions of rupees to the Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens in Mysore, India.

During his childhood years, he was malnourished and especially, at various times, diagnosed with tuberculosis, malaria and typhoid fever. At the invitation of his sister's husband, yogi Sri Tirumalai Krishnamacharya, he began to practice yoga as a means of improving his health.
With his wife Ramamani, he raised one son and five daughters. His two children, Prashant and Geeta, became world-renowned yoga teachers.
