People's Artist Mai Thuy, born Mai Thi Thuy, has been a successful cheo actress since she was very young. Currently, she is holding the position of deputy director of Ninh Binh Cheo Theater. She is the only cheo artist who was conferred the title of personal artist at the age of 45.

In 1983, she graduated from secondary school, she was recruited by Doan Van Cong Ha Nam Ninh to be an actress. After that, she passed the entrance exam to Ha Nanning Puppetry Art troupe and was allowed to study acting at Ha Nanning Cheo Company in 1984.
