Young / Before famous

As a child, Chau Ky attended a village school. When he grew up, his father sent him to Hue to study at Lycée Khai Dinh.
Here, Chau Ky met and learned music from the monk Petrus Thieu, a monk who was both good at music theory and composing and was proficient in using a variety of Western musical instruments. Being smart and loving music, Chau Ky learns very quickly. When his sister founded the Hong Thu troupe, Chau Ky returned to the troupe to perform to earn money to help her family.
Ganh Hong Thu often toured many places, both domestically and abroad. In 1942, while performing in Thakhet, Laos, Chau Ky was arrested by French secret agents, and he was imprisoned in Ba Vi. About a year after Chau Ky was released, he returned to his hometown when he heard that his mother had died in a flood.
In 1947, Chau Ky went to Saigon, collaborated with Phap A Radio in the band "Than Kinh Music" Doan" of singer-songwriter Manh Phat and English band Thuy Duong and he is the head of the band.

In 1955, Chau Ky married Kha Thi Dang. The wedding ceremony was held at Truong Ky Tu floor in Cho Lon with the participation of many brothers and sisters in the new music world and a large number of brothers and sisters in the Southern classical music world. Chau Ky and Kha Thi Dang have 4 children, 3 boys and a girl, all of whom are married.
After 1975, his family fell into poverty, the spacious house before 1975 had to be sold to pay the debt for survival, leaving a dilapidated roof in Tan Quy commune, Nha Be district today.
