As a child, Le Mong Nguyen attended a village school. Then went to primary school at the École Primaire Chaigneau in Hue. In the entrance exam to Khai Dinh High School, Le Mong Nguyen was one of the top three who passed the exam and was granted a scholarship by the Government.
From a young age, Le Mong Nguyen loved poetry and enjoyed composing poetry. At the age of 9, Le Mong Nguyen wrote a poem that was published in the internal journal of Khai Dinh High School under the pseudonym Yen Ha.
At the age of 15, in a high school student literature competition, he won the Bao Dai Emperor Award for an article about Phan Dinh Phung.
At the age of 18, Le Mong Nguyen collaborated with many newspapers such as Buddhism Van Tap, Vietnam Tan Bao, Duong Moi, National.
In 1950, after graduating from a full Baccalaureate in Vietnam, musician Le Mong Nguyen was allowed to study abroad in France and was sponsored by Mr. Nguyen Khoa Nam in Paris.
Initially, he wanted to study harmony at the Paris School of Music, but later gave up, studying law at the Faculty of Law and Economic Sciences of the University of Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne (Faculté de Droit et de Sciences Economiques).
In 1954, Le Mong Nguyen graduated with a Bachelor of Laws. From 1955 to 1958, he was invited to work as economic and social attaché next to the Vietnamese Embassy in Paris (Attaché économique et social près l'Ambassade du Vietnam à Paris) under Vietnamese Ambassador Pham Duy Khiem .
In 1962, he obtained his National Doctorate (Doctorat d'État) with three master's degrees in Droit public, Droit privé and Sciences Politiques. After stopping practicing law.
