Who is Composer Thanh Son?
Musician Thanh Son is the author of more than 500 lyrical songs about school age and many songs about the Southwest region of Vietnam. His songs are influenced by Southern folk songs and with bolero music. Musician Thanh Son's real name is Nguyen Thanh Son, the 10th child in a family of 12 siblings in Soc Trang province. He is a famous Vietnamese musician since the 1960s.
In 1959, musician Thanh Son won the first prize in the singer selection contest of Saigon Radio. From here he was invited to sing in the band Voice of the Bronze Age of musician Hoang Trong. Thanh Son sings and learns to compose by himself through the book "To compose a song" by musician Hoang Poetry Poetry.
In 1962, he released the first song he composed, "Student Love", but this song was not really successful. In 1963, he composed the song "The Sorrow of the Phoenix Flower". After this song was released to the public, it became one of the most popular songs written about summer at that time.
In 1963, musician Thanh Son began to focus on composing. From 1973, he began to shift his composition to the genre of country music.

In 2011, musician Thanh Son suffered a cerebrovascular accident, although he was treated by doctors, but he still did not survive. Musician Thanh Son died at 2:30 p.m. on April 4, 2012 in Ho Chi Minh City. After the funeral, his family and relatives sent him off to be buried at the artist's street of Hoa Vien Cemetery Binh Duong in Chanh Phu Hoa commune, Ben Cat district Binh Duong province on the morning of April 9, 2012, according to the will of the late musician.

When he was in primary school, musician Thanh Son learned to sing with teacher Vo Duc Phan (musician Vo Duc Thu's younger brother).
In 1955, he went to Saigon to study music with musician Le Thuong with the dream of becoming a singer to earn a lot of money to support her family.
In 1959, he participated in the audition. singer of Saigon Radio, and won the first prize. After winning the award, he was invited to sing in the band Voices of the Bronze Age of Hoang Trong.
