Duong Thu Huong is a famous female writer of Vietnamese literature. She was born in Thai Binh province, currently lives in France.
When the country was reunified, Duong Thu Huong started composing, her works quickly became famous and among the most widely read works at that time in the Openness movement.
Writers Duong Thu Huong is the author of many famous works such as The Other Side of Illusion, The Blind Paradise.... The works express her own dissatisfaction with the communist regime. In 1994, her work received the Order of Culture and Arts Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres awarded by the French Minister of Culture - Mr. Jacques Toubon.
Currently, the literary works of writer Duong Thu Huong is banned in Vietnam for political reasons. She was once in prison for daring to speak out criticizing the application of Marxism-Leninism in Vietnam, opposing the Communist Party's monopoly.
The novels of writer Duong Thu Huong have been translated into English, French and German. With the novel "Away" helped her appear on French television TF1. This novel is also on the list of nominations for the Femina Prize and received the Grand Prize for Readers of Elle magazine (Grand prix des lectrices de Elle) in 2007.
In April 2006, writer Duong Thu Huong was invited. to Paris - France and New York - USA to attend an international conference of writers. After finishing the trip, she applied for a stay in France.

In 1967, she joined the movement Sing over the bomb, served in a literary troupe at Binh Tri Thien battlefield. She was one of the few people in the group that returned alive.
