Writer Nong Viet Toai's real name is Nong Dinh Han, a native of Ngan Son, Bac Kan. He is a son of the Tay ethnic group, born and raised in a poor, studious family in Coc Dan commune, Ngan Son district.
Most of his works are geared towards propaganda and promotion; especially when the poem "Pay army" was born in 1952, making the name Nong Viet Toai familiar to people of the Tay ethnic group in particular and the mountainous peoples in general.
Known as a multi-talented man, he devoted more to poetry than most. In addition to writing poetry, he also wrote short stories and pen-signs.
The poetry of writer Nong Viet Toai carries many images associated with the daily life and events of the country; especially his Tay poetry is pure Tay, Tay proverbs and idioms are also used by him in a subtle and flexible way; His poetry is also a rich source to find out the ancient Tay languages, customs, practices, cultural life, spiritual life, ancient language... which are gradually disappearing over time.
