Who is Poet Hai Bang?
Poet Hai Bang, whose real name is Nguyen Phuoc Vinh Ton, was born in Hue. He belongs to the royal family and is the great-grandson of King Hiep Hoa. His father used to be a trier of Bo Trach district, Quang Binh, then became Governor of the Central Highlands under the Nguyen Dynasty.
Hai Bang was admitted as a member of the Vietnam Writers Association twice in 1957 and 1985. Besides writing poetry, he also enjoys painting and shaping tree roots.
Poet Hai Bang passed away on July 7, 1998.

- Hai Bang joined the National Guard when he was 14 years old, a soldier of the 101st Regiment in Thua Thien.
- Since 1948, he has been in the inter-region IV art troupe. to support Binh Tri Thien battlefield. At this time, he took the name Van Ton, wrote poems and read them to the soldiers. His poems continuously appeared in Duong Hoa, Ba Long, Gio Linh, Cam Lo war zones. Among them is the famous poem "The French ambulance maid" which caused a lot of controversy, was considered to be sentimental and merciful to the enemy.
- In 1954, Mr. was transferred to the Department of Mass Culture under the Ministry of Culture. While working here, he began to draw satirical pictures, including "Turtle pushers" printed in the Hundred Flowers newspaper. But it was also because of this painting that he was accused of having a "Humanistic" thought and was transferred.
- In 1959, he returned to Quang Binh Culture Department to work in book publishing. In the same year, he got married, his wife was a woman from Quang Binh.
- After the country was unified, he and his family returned to the ancient capital of Hue to live and work at Binh Culture Department. Tri Thien until he retired in 1994.
