A singer, actor, and composer as well as a master on a uniquely Asian stringed instrument called the Baglama, he has recorded nearly forty singles; including nearly one hundred soundtracks; and starred in more than thirty Turkish films.
Many of his recordings fuse elements of traditional Turkish music, psychedelic rock, jazz, classical music, and country music.

He began his musical training when he was six years old, studying both mandolin and violin and focusing on Turkish folk music. He later attended a conservatory in his hometown and began playing the tenor and Baglama saxophone.
He was born and raised in Samsun, Turkey.
