Who is Vietnam War Hero Cu Chinh Lan?
Cu Chinh Lan was born as one of the young heroic martyrs of Vietnam. He was conferred the title Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the State Party.
Cu Chinh Lan is the youngest child in the family. The poor farmer has a father, Mr. Cu Khac Nhuong, and his mother is Mrs. Ho Thi Ha. When he was 4 years old, his mother died, his father married another wife and gave birth to 4 more children. Because of his poor family, from a young age he had to hunt crabs, hoe, and work as hired laborers to feed his half-brothers and study. Because of his miserable family situation, he soon had a love for poor people like himself. With the will to be independent, hating the oppression and exploitation of the society at that time, he always had the desire to join the military ranks, the desire for our people to escape unjust oppression, to help so that the poor people in his hometown no longer suffer from miserable scenes. In 1946, when the French army returned to invade our country, Cu Chinh Lan volunteered to join the National Guard, at that time he was only 16 years old.
On December 13, 1951, our troops launched an offensive. Jiang Open stronghold. Our troops were rushed by enemy tanks while our soldiers were focusing on the target. Cu Chinh Lan with a submachine gun and a grenade in his hand ran up alone to chase the tanks at the front of the enemy army. He jumped onto the side of the truck, pry open the turret hood, and dropped the unlatched grenade. The troops inside were all dead, the tank was frozen in place, blocking the way, and other vehicles like snakes had lost their heads and could not advance. The Giang Open stronghold was destroyed by our army. On December 29, 1951, Cu Chinh Lan and his comrades-in-arms fought at Co To fort. Even though he was wounded three times, he did not dampen his will to kill the enemy, he broke through the enemy's thorny fences and opened the way. Let your teammates go in to destroy the enemy. When the battle ended with the glorious victory of our army, he died at the age of 20. He is an exemplary squad leader, a typical member of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
His example of courage and indomitable will has been followed by our soldiers in battles. terrified the enemy.
On May 19, 1952, he was conferred the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the State, the second-class military merit medal, the first-class resistance medal.
