Nguyen Tan Dang is a hero of the Vietnam War and a member of the Communist Party of Vietnam. He used to hold the position of captain, the chief doctor of the Military Medical Department of the 3rd Infantry Regiment, in the 9th Military Region.
From 1947 to April 1975, he continuously served in the military medical industry, growing up from rescue. injured the doctor, then carried the surgical team and became the regiment commander of the army medical officer.
During the work, the surgical team faced many difficulties, had to be mobile in battle formation, providing first aid on the spot with the number of doctors. There was a large number of wounded soldiers, sometimes he was on duty to treat wounded soldiers while fighting the enemy and dozens of times while he was operating on wounds, enemy aircraft and artillery fired fiercely. Even so, he always calmly encouraged his teammates to help and tried every way to move the wounded soldiers out safely. Many times, he had to operate on his own for more than 10 hours, before leaving the scalpel, he continued to attend with his teammates to carry stretchers out of wounded soldiers. During 12 years of operation, he served nearly 600 battles of the regiment, directly providing first aid to 6, 485 wounded soldiers, of which more than 100 cases of fatal wounds were treated by him. He worked hard to study and research, focusing on professional training for his comrades in the unit, he trained 60 nurses and instructed 4 comrades with good surgical expertise. He was always devoted to the wounded soldiers, sincere to everyone, he was admired by everyone in the unit.
Nguyen Tan was awarded the Third-class Liberation War Medal by the State, and was awarded 19 diplomas. commendation and certificate of merit, 4 times elected as emulation soldier
