Lam Uy was born into a poor peasant family in Quang Binh. From an early age, he had to live and work as hired laborers to make a living. In September 1945, Lam Uy participated in revolutionary activities, volunteered to join the Southern advance army operating in Binh - Tri - Thien.

At this time, our ammunition was almost out and many soldiers were seriously injured, Lam Uy always encouraged his teammates to fight hard. Lam Uy alone rushed in to pick up the enemy's grenades for the soldiers to fight, thanks to that, our troops were able to repel two more waves of enemy counterattacks. But then the grenades ran out, he immediately raised the slogan of using bayonets, butts to fight to the end. At this time, the enemy counterattacked fiercely, he led his unit to jump out of the fortification, kill 3 guys with bayonets, when he reached the 4th name, at this time the bayonet could not be pulled out, it was attacked by another enemy. rushed to hug. Although he was small compared to the enemy, he still cleverly knocked the enemy down, clutching his mouth tightly and biting the enemy's stomach. Seeing that, the other guys also rushed in to shoot at comrade, although he was seriously injured, he still tried his best to knock down the enemy and dragged him into the river.
Lam Uy bravely sacrificed himself. . When he was picked up by his comrades, he still held on to the enemy with both hands, biting on the stomach of the French enemy with his mouth.
Comrade Lam Uy was awarded the Second-class Victory Medal, and was awarded many times by the Union. commended by the region and the Resistance Committee.
On August 31, 1955, Lam Uy was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the Party and State, and the Second-class Military Merit Order.
